Hong Kong Ministry
Within the West of England Baptist Network, our Hong Kong ministry is helping Hong Kong people not only to settle, but to flourish in faith, belonging, and purpose. It is led by Candy Choy, whose ministry carries warmth, wisdom, and a steady passion to see people rooted in Christ and confident in the local church.
Candy preaches and leads Scripture-shaped sessions that open the Bible with clarity and depth. She also helps Hong Kong believers navigate the “language-world” of UK church life, gently unpacking terms and phrases that are commonly used in preaching and teaching, so that people can engage more fully and grow more quickly. The impact of these 'Christianese' classes is tangible: strengthened discipleship, renewed confidence, and deeper joy in following Jesus.
Candy also partners with churches to help them become more welcoming and accessible to Hong Kong families and individuals. She offers pastoral support, wise listening, and can signpost people to additional help where needed. She leads marriage classes, hosts regular “ladies’ meetings,” and has convened a regional conference creating space for encouragement, friendship, and spiritual momentum across the network. A growing emphasis is the development of leaders - helping emerging and established leaders deepen their biblical confidence, strengthen their calling, and serve faithfully in their new context.
As needs and opportunities grow, Candy is eager to develop this work more strategically, strengthening churches, resourcing leaders, and building pathways of support that could extend across and beyond our region. If you would value learning more, Candy would love to hear from you.
