Advent - Sixty-One
Many of your churches will have engaged with Sixty-One in one way or another over the years- supporting us financially, providing mentors for our MentorMe programme, hosting our training and celebration events, or promoting the work we do in prisons through the Christmas and Easter gift bags. Many of you will have- most crucially of all- supported us in prayer.
We're so grateful for the support we receive from the Church across Bristol, and we simply couldn't do this work without you. On top of that, one of the main reasons we exist is to inspire, equip and empower the Church to respond to the challenges facing those in the Criminal Justice System.
So, this Advent, we want to say thankyou. Sixty-One will be producing a series of short (5 mins) devotional videos, equally suitable for use in your main services, Bible study groups, prayer meetings, and personal devotions. They are designed to guide you through a key theme of Advent, provide a short reflection on a text from the Gospel of Matthew, pose some questions for discussion and then offer some ways that you can pray for people in the Criminal Justice System. There will be three main videos as well as an introductory video explaining the series- one video for each Sunday in Advent. This year's theme explores Christ's arrival- past, present and future, and how we can pray for the lives of people in and on release from prison in this context.
We know that Advent planning starts early for churches, and so we wanted to give you plenty of notice. If you would like to use these resources, then they are our gift to you. Currently we plan to release the introductory video during Prisons Week (13-17th October) so that you can get a feel for the series, with the rest of the videos to be released the week commencing the 17th November.
If you would like to find out more or sign up to receive the videos when they're released, then please do contact Matt via email.

Every Day Matters Conference
The Gospel is good news for all of life. But often, followers of Jesus end up feeling that it’s only church-based activities that really count – prayer meetings, Bible studies, and Sunday services. But that’s simply not true.
Every task, every interaction, and every day matters to God. From dropping your kids at school to checking spreadsheets, managing teams, grabbing coffee, heading to the gym, and playing in a band, we can be a transformative, Jesus-like presence, wherever we are and whatever we do.

Held at LICC’s HQ in central London, the Every Day Matters Conference will include stimulating content from keynote speakers Amy Orr-Ewing and Malcolm Duncan, with plenty of opportunities to apply learning to your individual contexts and to bounce ideas around with LICC’s Church Team and fellow church leaders.

Tickets cost £75, including light refreshments.

College of Preachers Events
Preaching the Women of the Gospels, Monday 17 November, 18.30-21.00 | Online via Zoom
The gospels feature a number of women and without their stories, the story of Jesus would be incomplete. So why don't we hear about them very often in sermons? This workshop will look at some of these women's stories, how we can preach about them, and why it matters that we do so.
This workshop will be led by the Revd Liz Shercliff, tutor at Luther King Centre, Manchester.
Ticket prices: general, £12; ministry student, £10. Booking closes 13 November 2025.
