As part of our 50 days of good news we hope lots of WEBA churches will engage with Thy Kingdom Come, Archbishop Justin Welby’s initiative to get churches praying during the week leading up to Pentecost. Here are some suggestions for this, and links to a wide range of resources for churches and individuals:
Thy Kingdom Come is just five weeks away! Have you started planning your church event yet?
With so many great resources to help you do this, from the Kingdom Kit for families, to prayer walking guides, to how to throw a Pentecost prayer-o-plane party!
You could:
- Hold a Messy Church – if you’ve not done this before your first one could be Thy Kingdom Come themed
- Introduce prayer stations at your church – for suggestions see our ‘Bright Ideas for Your Church’ booklet
- Try 24 –7 prayer
- Go on a prayer safari
- Encourage your home group to run a Thy Kingdom Come session
- Go into your local school assembly and talk to the children about prayer
- Hold a prayer kite festival, or a prayer bear picnic!
- Have a ‘pray for five friends’ session

The Kingdom Kit – helping families pray together.
Have you clocked that half term for many schools this year falls between Ascension and Pentecost?
Why not take the opportunity to pray together as a family as part of Thy Kingdom Come?
It’s a lovely chance to take time to pray together as a family without rushing off to clubs and school commitments.
We’d like to introduce the amazing Kingdom Kit – to help families pray at home together. This will guide you and your family with a daily prayer prompt and activity. The pack includes everything you need, from mustard seeds and keyrings, to balloons, smarties and bookmarks – and of course, prayers!
Also available is our family creative prayer journal and the Thy Kingdom Come ‘Bright Prayer Ideas for Families at Home’ resource.
Do you know a family who’d love to get involved? Tag them in the comments.
