Forests, bugs, and buttercups in Portishead
In 2013, Dan and Beth Doherty felt a strong call to leave full time ministry in East Sussex and move to Portishead, one of the fastest growing communities in Europe, with many who may never step inside a church. Since then, you have helped to support them through both Home Mission and the WEBA New Churches Initiative, as they have explored different ways to contribute to and bless the community they have now become part of.
Together with their daughters Pippa and Ella the Dohertys have organized different groups for fun and exploration – for outdoors-loving toddlers (Nature Bugs), spiritual searchers (Forest Church) and mums with their babies (Buttercup Babies). In February, the Dohertys were able to move to a larger property owned by WEBA, with more potential for gatherings in their home, including a monthly Home Church.
Please pray for Dan and Beth:
- That a core group of individuals who share Dan and Beth’s passion for planting church in relational ways, would emerge to support the work.
- For strength as they juggle the challenges of church planting and a very young family
- For wisdom to know how best to bless the community and help people to find life in all its fullness.
