TWENTY-FIVE young people in Swindon benefitted from hearing a hard-hitting presentation about knife-crime, courtesy of some of the local churches.

Jordan Turner and Danyelle King, both believers, from the Change Lives No To Knives initiative, along with John Cheek, Baptist Minister at Lawn Community Church, explained the cruel reality of knife-crime, at the youth club of Kings’ Christian Centre (AoG), in Old Town. For 20 minutes, they exposed the lie that ‘knives provide protection’ and afterwards, spent time chatting with a number of the teenagers and answered their questions. Deputy Mayor Imtiyaz Shaikh was an invited guest.

This is the first of a number of presentations to be given to church youth groups around Swindon and the churches hope that it will also be taken into secondary schools, in due course. Police data has shown that knife-crime in Swindon increased significantly between April 2022 and March 2023.

Pastor Malcolm MacQueen: “The meeting went very well and it was really excellent having Danyelle and Jordan come along.”
